Food Network has to be one of the best TV channels, ever. Since Ian's place has cable, I discovered the beauty of TV. And of course, I have to watch Food Network. Where have I been all this time? Food Network is wonderful! I realized that I can sit in front of the TV all day long just watching people cook. And you know what? Cooking is awsome. I am sure everyone finds something that's awsome. Cooking is the one for me. There are so many endless possibilities out there when you cook... and once you know the basics, with a little imagination and creativity, the universe is yours. I just love it.
And I think Chef LaCount had a lot to do with how I feel about cooking today. I took 4 different classes with him for a whole school year... and I have to say, I learnt a lot from him. He made all my classes fun... and opened a door for me with experiments and trying different things... He made me realized that really, you don't have to measure everything when you cook... Recipe is there to help you... but you can be yourself when you cook! Absolutely fantastic.
Now I am reading a book called "Five Quarters of the Orange." I really like what the Narrator is doing... She has her own store/cafe... she bakes and cooks and cans and jars... I want to do that. She is totally doing what I want to do when I have enough money and knowledge. Oh, dreams. When I have money, I am going to go to culinary school... and when I have money, I am going to buy a farm and a sweet little house and I am going to open my own cafe. I want to have fruits and vegetables and an herb garden. I don't think I will have animals... Leave the dirty killing business to someone else... :-P Perhaps a few hens so I can have fresh eggs everyday. Just like how it was when I was young and grandma had chicken in the backyard.
That was random. Or perhaps not too random. I have been watching a lot of cooking shows... reading a book with a lot of cooking in it... and looking at a lot of recipes. Ian's parents are coming over for dinner on Friday... I think it's gonna be good. I hope all the dishes turn out... and we'll see how Ian cooks! ;-)
I feel we've been eating pretty lame at home lately... So this could be a nice change... A bottle of champagne for starter and wine to go with the main course... :) Oh I have to remember to get some good bread too! Hmm... It's late... but I am getting hungry... Should go get ready for bed... G'nite!
