It's good to be on vacation!

It feels good to be on vacation. I've forgotten what it feels like to be on vacation. I get later than usual, I take my time to get ready and read books (Harry Potter at the moment of course). I chat with some friends to catch up, and have lunch with Ian. Now I am taking my time to finish off the translations I am doing while enjoying the music on my launch.com radio. Excellent life, isn't it! ;-)

I got my camera the other day, after all this time! It's an excellent camera and it produces pictures that are even better than my old SLR. It's a weird feeling when you realize how much technology can do. I guess you still need the creativity in a photographer to get great results, but hey, why not take advantage of the technology we have today? So I missed DeShea and Lance's photo show this year... hopefully I will make it next year! :-D

Alright, time to get back to my translations!

So here's the new love for me. I've been thinking and talking about this camera for so long, it just doesn't feel right if I don't get it. After debating with myself for so long, I think I am finally going to get it tomorrow. I will have to call the photo processor and ask them to order it for me. Hopefully I will get it before Friday so I can take pictures with it for graduation. I've spent countless hours thinking about it, reading about it, even when I had to do a ton of work... And thne there's the scooter... I have been thinking about getting a scooter so I can get around easier, but I guess everyone else in the family thinks it's a stupid idea. All the better for me, I can just spend my money on the camera, saves me the trouble of making a choice.

Typhoon day food experiment

We had a typhoon day today... no work and not really a lot of rain or wind. Last night was a little rough. We had to move all the plants in under the shades, but the big tree had to stay out in the crazy wind. Last time we had that kind of wind was when I just started elementary school I think. Luckily, our plants survive, except the tip of a new branch from the tree broke off. Someone's car from down the road was hit by something and the alarm was going off for a while. Wish that car owner luck!

I didn't sleep that much because of the wind last night, finally fell asleep at 5:30 this morning... When I woke up, I was starving. We decided to make omelettes, only we didn't have bacon, which is essential for my omelette! All we could find was a pepperoni in the freezer... So I created my own version of Mario's (an Italian guy I used to work with) omelette. It was so delicious I didn't get to take a picture of it.

Dinner time came and we decided to have spaghetti for dinner... This time I remembered to get a picture of it... Maybe that's what I should do all the time, take pictures of all the dishes I make, so when I have my own restaurant, I would have all the pictures for the menu!

My first crochet piece!

I crocheted this baby hat... It's very cute and very easy to do! Posted by Picasa

Roo, because she looks like a kangaroo

Our first dog :) Roo... because she looks like a kangaroo!

Ian was on a scooter ride out in the mountains. He saw the puppy running around, stopped and noticed another one that was pretty sick. He took the sick one back, we tried to help her, took her to the vet and everything. It didn't work. We had to let her go... I cried. Then Ian went back to feed the other one that was still running around. She looked like she was in pretty bad shape... He went back a couple times since she was starving. Then it happened. While he was feeding her, a car ran over her. Ian had to take her back with him. He couldn't just let her die out there. That's how we ended up with her. It took me the whole morning to give her the name, Roo, because she looks like a kangaroo. So, June 22nd... that was when we got her.

She's been with us ever since... It's been almost a month now... I am still trying to get used to having a dog in the house. She is funny though... Neighbours laugh at us, because she is no famous breed... It doens't matter to us... we saved her, she is ours.

Only problem is... she only listens to Ian, she only follows Ian...

She annoys me sometimes... and I didn't want to have her in the house. But it kinda grows on you... Now when Ian gets mad at her... I will go and comfort her... :-P

So that's the story of the crazy dog named Roo.

It's so hot!

Taiwan has been really hot lately. I can't believe how high the temperature is. It's so hot that you can see everything clearly, which is unusual around this area. It's so hot that the sun actually burns your skin if you are out for even just 1 minute.

Yet, we still have to have the fieldtrips... and the school is as annoying as someone can be to me. I can't take it anymore. I am glad that I leaving, even though I will miss some of the students. It's hard to believe that I've been working here for almost 2 years now... and only 7 work days to go!!

I am rambling again... perhaps it's time for me to take a nap to run away from this heat.
